It’s All About You: A One-Person Show Workshop (4 Week)
Have you ever thought about turning your life into a one-person show? Or do you have an idea for a solo-show but can’t figure out how to develop it? In this four-week class, successful actor and writer, David Dean Bottrell will help you channel your inner Julia Sweeney or Eric Bogosian. Let David show you how to get your story on the page, and your show on the stage! His fun, improvisational writing exercises will transform your annoying relatives into hilarious, three dimensional characters and your most embarrassing moments into irresistible stories. You’ll learn to discover and trust your voice and experiment with genre and tone. David’s balanced workshopping sessions will give you useful feedback without popping your ego and inspire you to stay on track. He’ll even share his secrets for getting your show produced. By the end of this class, you’ll have written a significant chunk of your solo-show, and it won’t be long before the audience is clapping and shouting, “Bravo!” just for you!

About David Dean Bottrell:
David Dean Bottrell performed his acclaimed solo show, “David Dean Bottrell Makes Love: A One-Man Show” to capacity crowds last year at the Rogue Machine Theatre. The L.A. Times called the show “Hysterical” while SoCal Public radio deemed it “Hilarious and moving.” His recent acting credits include roles on “True Blood,” “Harry’s Law,” “Castle,” “Criminal Minds,” “iCarly” and “Days of Our Lives,” but he is best known for his recurring gig playing the wonderfully psychotic “Lincoln Meyer” on “Boston Legal.” He has written off-Broadway plays as well as screenplays for Fox Searchlight, MTV Films, Paramount Pictures and Disney Feature Animation including the movie “Kingdom Come.” His short film, “Available Men” (which he wrote and directed) premiered at the HBO Comedy Festival in 2007 and went on to win 17 awards on the film festival circuit. David blogs for the Huffington Post and frequently performs his original stories in the “Sit ‘N Spin” show at the Comedy Central Stage in Hollywood.

About Ann Randolph:
Ann Randolph is an award-winning writer/performer. Her Ovation Award winning solo show, “Squeeze Box” was produced Off Broadway by Mel Brooks and the late Anne Bancroft and also won "Best Solo Show of 2002" from the LA Weekly. She won “Best Solo Performer 2011” from the LA Times and “Best Solo Performer in San Francisco 2010” from the San Francisco Examiner for her current solo show, “Loveland”. Her solo show, “Miss America” also won “Best Solo Show of 1998” by the LA Weekly. Her personal essays have been featured on NPR, BBC, and PBS. In addition to writing for the stage, Ann has been hired by Brooksfilms (Mel Brooks’s Production Company) to create an original movie based on her play, “Squeeze Box”. She has also created original programming for Gullane Pictures, PAX, Lifetime, and Klasky Csupo. She was a member of the Groundlings and Unsafe Sketch receiving LA Weekly’s “Best Female Comedy Performer” award. She teaches and tours throughout the United States.

About Jessie Gaskell:
Jessie Gaskell is currently a writer on Rupaul's Drag Race. Prior to that, she was the head writer of The Dish, a delightfully silly pop culture show that aired weekly on the Style network. Jessie also wrote and starred in the successful web series “Dorm Life,” the most-watched web series on hulu.com and winner of 6 Streamy Award nominations including “Best Writing” and “Best Ensemble Cast.” She performs sketch comedy as part of the duo Sensible Snack. Jessie has completed the Improv and Sketch schools at UCB and Improv Olympic and holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Development, Poli Sci and Spanish from UCLA.
